Welcome Jose Mourinho banners up inside Old Trafford during Soccer Aid 2016

by Sam Peoples

Jose Mourinho was in the stands as acting manager of England for their 3-2 win over a Rest of the World team on Sunday in Soccer Aid 2016 and there were plenty of Manchester United fans who watched on at Old Trafford.

It’s cracking to see Mourinho at Old Trafford as Man United manager and I certainly never thought I’d be saying that back in 2013 but how times have changed.

While there are some who feel his appointment doesn’t fit United perfectly, some banners are already out for Mourinho inside Old Trafford and although it is still two months away, the anticipation towards Jose’s first game in charge is starting to build (and that’s before we’ve even officially signed anybody).

Once we’ve made a few signings and hopefully have a successful pre-season under our belts, the excitement will be palpable for our opening Premier League game with Mourinho as manager. Of course, we could win the Community Shield at Wembley as well to set us off on the right foot too.

There might not be a chosen one banner inside Old Trafford like there was for David Moyes, having learned from that mistake the hard way, Mourinho is going to get a huge welcome when he takes a seat in the dugout for the first time. Bring it on.
