Villareal defender Eric Bailly has completed his medical with Manchester United and an official announcement is expected today, according to Duncan Castles.
So long as there are no issues with his work visa, Bailly will become Jose Mourinho’s first Man United signing and kick start the activity this summer.

At 22, Bailly is a young defender but has been touted by many as a superb prospect. A very informative piece for ESPN by Andy Mitten offers some excellent insight into why he is considered such an exciting young player.
In terms of a start to the transfer window, Bailly would be a great way to get things moving. Chris Smalling needs a defensive partner and bringing in Bailly means we could move Daley Blind back into his natural defensive midfield role. The Dutchman may have served a purpose last season but he is not, and will never be, a world class centre-back.
At this stage, it looks like an announcement for Bailly will be the only official movement from United before Euro 2016 starts on Friday but after a few years of late activity in the summer window, it’s a refreshing beginning to see United moving swiftly and decisively with a new signing. There’ll no doubt be more to follow.
Update: Eric Bailly has now officially joined Man United. Welcome Eric!
