Michael Carrick has signed a Man United contract extension for one-year. The 34-year-old will now remain at the club until at least 2017 after Jose Mourinho decided he was too valuable to let go this summer.

Man United have opened talks with FC Basel over Breel Embolo. The right-winger has been linked with a host of clubs but United have taken a move ahead by beginning discussions and he may well become Mourinho’s second signing.

And finally, Eric Bailly is not expected to be the only defender signed by Mourinho as he is after an experienced head to join the squad and complete his options at the back. It would be a smart move to do that.
