Swiss outlet 20 minutes is reporting that Manchester United have opened discussions to sign FC Basel’s Breel Embolo.
The 19-year-old is part of Switzerland’s Euro 2016 after an impressive season with FC Basel where he scored 13 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions.
German side RB Leipzig and a host of other clubs have been linked with Embolo but 20 minutes are saying Man United have taken a proactive step towards signing him and talks are underway.
Man United chief scout Peter Braund watched Embolo in action back in November, so while these reports are somewhat out of the blue it’s not the first time Embolo’s name has been mentioned with United.
Importantly, Embolo is a natural right sided attacking player who could slot nicely into the hole we currently have on the right wing. Just like we needed at least one new centre-back, a right winger is a priority for Mourinho this season but nobody would have expected a teenager to fill that gap.
Could Mourinho’s first two signings be aged 22 and 19? For a man who has been lambasted about his use of youth across his career, that would certainly go against the grain and would be more than welcome from United fans who like nothing more than to see a talented youngster arrive at the club.
