Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs is expected to finally walk away from Old Trafford this week, according to reports.
His future at Old Trafford has been uncertain since Jose Mourinho took over and Mirror are claiming the Welshman is on the brink of becoming the new Nottingham Forest manager.
Senior figures at the club believe he will make an announcement in the coming week and will turn down the opportunity to work under new boss Mourinho.
The Portuguese boss will be brining in his own backroom staff and Giggs would have been demoted from his current position as Rui Faria is expected to become assistant manager.
He has enjoyed three years as assistant manager, underneath Louis van Gaal and David Moyes, but would have always been overlooked against Jose Mourinho giving his experience and reputation.
Giggs’ departure will bring an end to a 28-year association with the club which he helped United win 13 Premier League titles as a player. It would be sad to see him go but if he wants to manage United one day he needs to leave and pickup some experience elsewhere.
The Nottingham Forest job comes across as an ideal stepping stone in his career to help him get some experience under his belt and prove himself as a manager before he sets his eyes on the Old Trafford job.
