Outgoing Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink believes Jose Mourinho will bring instant success to Manchester United.
Man United appointed the Portuguese boss as their new manager on a three-year deal last month, replacing Louis van Gaal after two years in charge at Old Trafford.
He was sacked by Chelsea following the club’s worst start to a season since 1979 and Hiddink was brought in to steady the ship at Stamford Bridge and guide them to a 10th-placed finish in the league.
Speaking babout Mourinho, Hiddink insists despite problems he faced at Chelsea, the targets will remain high at Man United next season.
“Mourinho is a coach who can deliver a performance, a success, an instant success,” he said.
“The competition is tough in England especially, but big clubs have to be there in the top three, top four, always.”
His reputation took a hit after he left Chelsea in 16th position in December but he has a point to prove and has everything in place to succeed at Man United next season. The fans have suffered disappointing tenures under van Gaal and David Moyes – they will no doubt be looking forward to progressing under the Portuguese boss.
Mourinho has signed Eric Bailly as his first signing at the club and will be looking to build on that as a deal for Zlatan Ibrahimovic is said to be in the works and talks for the transfer of Henrikh Mkhitaryan have begun.
It’s clear he’s looking to take the club back in the right direction and it’ll only be a matter of time before he’s able to get us back to our glory days.
