Manchester United’s new signing Tahith Chong has confirmed he has been in touch with some of his new team-mates ahead of his switch to Old Trafford.
The 16-year-old has agreed to leave Feyenoord and is expected join Man United’s academy this summer.
He uploaded a picture to his Instagram account earlier this month of him being presented with a celebratory Man United cake and looks to be keen to get started at the club.
Speaking ahead of his transfer, he insists he was impressed by the club and is ready to make the step in his career.
“I’ve been there a few times and I am definitely impressed by the club,” he said.
“United have good accommodation for youth players and it is up to me to make that step. My parents will go to England and it’s good to have their support there.
“Through Instagram I have already had contact with three guys from the team but otherwise I do not know yet the team.”
Chong has been at Feyenoord since the age of 10 and has worked his way up through their academy over the years. He was wanted by several Premier League clubs but decided to snub the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal in favour of a move to Old Trafford.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah‘s breakthrough season is a success story and could be one of the reasons the Dutch youngster was persuaded by a United move, he’ll be looking to progress on our U18s side but after watching some of his performances it’s clear it won’t take him long to progress onto the first-team.
He looks like he’s ready to get to work at Old Trafford next season and I’m certainly looking forward to see how he gets on.
