Manchester United have confirmed the names of eight new first-year scholars in the club’s Academy, who will be eligible to play for the Under-18 team in 2016/17.
Angel Gomes was regularly involved in Tommy Martin’s side last season, he has already played in the FA Youth Cup at the age of 15 and will be an influential figure as he looks to develop his game.
Italian signing Luca Ercolani and Irish arrival Lee O’Connor are included on the list, as well as Aidan Barlow, George Tanner, Harry Spratt, Max Dunne and Jake Barratt. Dunne is the only Manchester-born member of the eight.
Salford youngster Barlow made eight substitute appearances for the U18s last season, finding the back of the net twice and will be hoping to cement his place on Martin’s side next season.
The future is bright at Man United, we’ve got plenty of youngsters waiting to breakthrough and many working extremely hard to work their way through the ranks at the club.
Man United have shown their faith in youngsters and have been continuously rewarded, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Marcus Rashford are the latest successful examples proving if you work hard enough and perform on the main stage you will always be given opportunities at the club.
Promoting youth is part of the club and it’s brilliant to see so many youngsters performing well in the academy.
