New Manchester United signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists the Ligue 1 was not at the level of his talent.

The 34-year-old agreed a one-year deal at Man United on Friday after signing a contract worth £200,000 per week.

His arrival pointed critics to the fact that he scored plenty of goals, but in the Ligue 1 which is not known to be the toughest league, but now he has the opportunity to prove himself in the biggest league in the world.

Speaking about his transfer, Ibrahimovic claims he couldn’t stay motivated at the Parc des Princes.

“When I signed for Paris Saint Germain did not expect much from the French championship,” he said.

“Ligue 1 was not at the level of my talent or the clubs where he played before. It’s true. So I ran a risk both for me and for my courage and my image.

“How could I stay motivated in a stadium with only 2,000 people? In San Siro there was an average of 90,000.”

He’s the kind of signing the club have been craving over the last few years but have been unable to attract to Old Trafford. Ibrahimovic has the attitude and the goal scoring ability the club have been missing.

We needed a big personality to lift the club to the next level and there aren’t many bigger names than Ibrahimovic in the world of football.

The combination of Ibrahimovic and Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford is the perfect way to signal the club’s intent of finally lifting their 21st league title.
