Henrikh Mkhitaryan is officially a red and one thing is for sure – he’s just as excited as Manchester United fans, if not more so, having completed his move from Borussia Dortmund.
The Armenian midfielder took to Twitter straight away to make it clear how happy he was to be joining Man United despite his close affinity to Dortmund as it’s such a major step in his career.
Writing on his Twitter account he said: “A dream come true! So happy to join @ManUtd, a club I always admired for its history & fans!”

Lots of players say the usual spiel of the club they’ve just joined being their dream one but it’s still good to hear, which is why they all do it I suppose. But with Mkhitaryan you do immediately get the impression he’s humbled with the move as well as grateful, rather than simply thinking he deserves it.
It’s been a tough few years to get to this point for Mkhitaryan. His start at Dortmund was marred by an injury and it took two seasons for him to really find his feet and an arm over his shoulder from Jurgen Klopp’s replacement Thomas Tuchel.
Under him, he became one of the Bundesliga’s most prolific playmakers and unlike Shinji Kagawa he looks ready made for the rigours of the Premier League. With Marcus Rashford, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the likes in his new team too, there’ll be ample opportunities to create chances.
Out of all three signings I think Mkhitaryan is the boldest statement from United because Dortmund didn’t want to let him go but we got our man, we pushed the negotiations and we did it. That hasn’t happened in some time. Welcome Mkhitaryan, I can’t wait to see him action!
