Alessandro Del Piero: Paul Pogba faces tough decision on Man United interest

Former Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero admits Paul Pogba is facing a difficult decision over wether to rejoin Manchester United or staying at the Italian club this summer.

Sky Sports have recently claimed Man United chief executive Ed Woodward has started negotiations earlier in the week to sign the midfielder in a deal worth over £100 million.

The Frenchman is currently contracted with the Serie A champions until 2019 and is representing his country at Euro 2016 as they prepare for the final fixture against Portugal on Sunday.

Speaking about a transfer, Piero insists Man United are a huge club, but hopes Pogba stays at Juventus.

“Pogba is a great player, has great potential and has already shown that to everybody,” he said.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen, there’s a lot of talk and I think Juventus want to keep him for at least one more year.

“But definitely United are a huge club, it’s also tough for him to decide what’s best. As an Italian and a former Juventus player, I hope he stays for at least one more year.”

Juventus can’t be forced into selling their star asset but could be looking to cash in on his rising valuation after an impressive showing for his country at Euro 2016.

Pogba is one of the most exciting prospects in Europe and he’d be an incredible signing at the club but a deal may cost the club more if France win the European Championship on Sunday.

He left the club on a free transfer after he fell out with Sir Alex Ferguson over a lack of game time, but would definitely be at the heart of Mourinho’s new Man United side.
