The teenager has been given a new pair of boots with his name on them from Nike as he moves up in the footballing world.
Having broken into the team last year under Louis van Gaal, the Dutch defender will be on a mission to prove to Jose Mourinho why he should start in his first choice eleven.
Mourinho has never been one to rotate his team needlessly and the pre-season will prove important to gain the manager’s trust while working on fitness and ensuring you don’t fall down the pecking order when the first game of the season rolls around.
Fosu-Mensah played at right-back under van Gaal but is more comfortable in a defensive midfield role. Mourinho requires a lot of energy from his side and if he can offer his services in a couple of roles, the new manager might be convinced to keep him close to his plans.
United have a lack of back-up at right-back and with Matteo Darmian likely to be given another week or two off after his exertions at Euro 2016, and there is every chance Fosu-Mensah can nail down a starting place for the pre-season.
