Ronald Koeman: Juan Mata signing is possible at Everton

Ronald Koeman has dropped a big hint over his interest in Manchester United forward Juan Mata by suggesting an Everton switch will be possible this summer.

The Everton boss has been continuously linked with a move for the Spanish international, whose future at Old Trafford has been thrown into doubt following the arrival of new manager Jose Mourinho.

He played every game for Louis van Gaal last season and has netted more than 26 times in over 100 appearances at Man United following his arrival from Chelsea in January 2014.

While signing autographs for Everton fans, Koeman was asked about new signings at the club, to which the Dutchman revealed a move for Mata was possible.

The recent arrival of Henrikh Mkhitaryan means the midfielder could find his first-team options limited.

Mourinho’s appointment at the club has also cast doubt over the players future at Old Trafford after he sold the Spaniard for £50m even though he won Chelsea’s Player of the Year award for two years in a row.

Reports earlier in the week suggested Everton had tabled a £20million offer for Mata as he played for Koeman during his first season at Valencia, but it looks like there could be more to it as Koeman has suggested.
