Nishan Burkart confirms he’s joining Manchester United

Nishan Burkart has confirmed he is joining Manchester United this summer.

The 16-year-old will join from Swiss side FC Zurich just like Saidy Janko previously did and further bolster our Under-18s squad which Nicky Butt is tasked with improving inside our academy system.

United had been linked with Burkart for quite some time so it’s good to hear we’ve pushed the deal over the line and will be bringing another talented youngster in from Europe.

Asked about why United was the club he chose to join, Burkart explained: “Pure gut feeling – the other clubs were also very interested.

“I visited each club and analysed its infrastructure while there. I always knew: If I were going to move to a club abroad, then it could only be to England, my mother’s home country.”

When further questioned about how he is feeling ahead of the move, Burkart added: “I’m taking a relaxed approach to it all.

“If it doesn’t work out with Manchester United, the excellent training will still provide a fantastic foundation for launching a career at another club.”

Having taken over as United’s head of academy last season, Butt has also secured deals for the likes of Dutch youngster Tahith Chong so is beginning to execute his plan which will come into effect next season.

Our U18s’ poor performances in 2015/16 led to the sacking of Paul McGuinness but with these new signings coming in, there is plenty of optimism looking head to the 2016/17 season.
