Man United speed pursuit of Paul Pogba after Real Madrid pull out of race – report

Manchester United are pressing as hard as possible in their pursuit of Paul Pogba following Real Madrid’s decision to no longer chase after the 23-year-old, according to reports.

The Frenchman, who left Old Trafford in 2012 on a free transfer, is set to respond to Man United’s world record bid of over £100m next week.

Madrid were also amongst the favourites to sign Pogba, but reports suggest the Merengues are no longer interested in his services as they are financially incapable of matching United’s bid.

With United now unchallenged in their pursuit of the talented Frenchman, they are pressing to secure his signature before they embark on their pre-season tour to China in the coming weeks.

To force Madrid into backing down in any deal is, in itself, a huge statement from Jose Mourinho and United. While Juventus remain reluctant to let Pogba leave, such an astronomical offer would be almost impossible to turn down.

Supporters, who still feel that Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to let him leave was a cataclysmic mistake, would rapturously welcome the 23-year-old’s addition.

Pogba’s strength, stunning technical ability and thunderous attacking verve would further empower a hugely promising attacking lineup at Old Trafford next season.
