Juan Mata was all smiles during Manchester United’s first training session under Jose Mourinho, despite uncertainty surrounding his future at Old Trafford
Mourinho sold Mata to Man United during his time at Chelsea, and it has been reported that the Spaniard will be offloaded once more this summer.
The 28-year-old has received interest from both Everton and Valencia after it was revealed that Mourinho was heading to United.
However, judging by these pictures, Mata doesn’t appear to be bothered by the recent precariousness surrounding his situation.
It’s hard to imagine Mata serving as a key component to Mourinho’s plans at United. The Spaniard simply doesn’t align with the qualities admired and demanded by the 53-year-old of an attacking midfielder.
Mata was offloaded by Mourinho at Chelsea due to his inability to function in a system that revolved around speed on the counter, organisation and an immense work rate. And it wouldn’t be surprising to see the same thing happen here.
While Mata is undoubtedly blessed with a number of excellent attributes, his style of play is simply doesn’t match up with Mourinho’s methods.
