Tyler Blackett has returned to training with Manchester United amid reports claiming he was set to leave the club.
It was reported earlier this week that Jose Mourinho was planning to offload Blackett and Guillermo Varela this summer.
Precariousness surrounding the Englishman’s future was amplified when it appeared that the 22-year-old was still on holiday as the rest of the squad had begun pre-season training.
However, Blackett was pictured training hard at Carrington yesterday, and is part of the squad that will visit Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
Blackett impressed many with how easily he took to first team football under Louis van Gaal. After an impressive pre-season, the youngster started the first five games of the 2014/15 campaign, only to be ostracised henceforth following a red card against Leicester City.
Despite some questionable performances since then, alongside an unfruitful loan spell at Celtic last term, Blackett has an unquestionable amount of raw ability at both left back and centre-back. His calmness at the back and superb ball control immediately caught van Gaal’s eye. His positional sense and alertness occasionally comes under scrutiny, but with guidance from Mourinho, the 22-year-old could form into a formidable defender.
