Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was impressed with his new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan in his first game in charge against Wigan Athletic.
The Armenian midfielder wore the Man United shirt for the first time at the DW Stadium and put in a stunning first-half performance.
He was subbed off in the second-half as he could be set to play a vital role for Mourinho’s side as they take on his former side Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on July 22.
Speaking about his performance, Mourinho insists Mkhitaryan is a top class player.
“Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a top class player,” he said.
“He’s the perfect after for a footballer.
“The way he touches the ball is so so sweet, it’s magnificent.”
Mkhitaryan put in an excellent shift for his debut against Wigan, he opened up their defence and created plenty of opportunites that would have undoubtedly been converted into goals had Anthony Martial and Zlatan Ibrahimovic been available for the fixture.
There was plenty of pressure for him to settle at United after it took him over a year to adapt to life at the Westfalenstadion, but it looks like he has taken to United well and even admitted he was feeling comfortable.
