Andreas Pereira admits he want to impress Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho this season.
The Brazilian came off the bench at half time and reminded the Portuguese boss of his finishing ability as he fired the ball into the top corner, helping Man United win 2-0 against Wigan Athletic on Saturday night.
His reactions were excellent and he was quick to create a moment of magic after Ander Herrera scuffed his shot, Mourinho also commented on his delight for the 20-year-old after the game.
Speaking about his plans, Pereira insists he wants to show the manager he can be a valuable asset to the team.
“It’s very important for me,” he said.
“I want to show the manager, to show the people around the club, to show the players that I can help this season. It’s very important for me. I want to show this in training and just keep working hard.
“I think it was very important for me to get some minutes and show the manager and show the team that I can help them. I am very happy that I could help.”
Pereira went three competitive months without a game after Louis van Gaal blocked his loan move last season, promising to give him more game time.
He deserves to be on the pitch and picking up experience, most fans remember his stunning free-kick against Ipswich Town on his senior debut and will undoubtedly want to see more of him after Saturday afternoon.
He’ll be looking to hit the ground running under Mourinho after he was overlooked by van Gaal last season and he has gone the perfect way of proving himself to the new boss ahead of the new campaign.
