Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has rejected an offer from Jose Mourinho to join Manchester United, according to reports. Varane made 33 appearances for the Spanish giants last term before a hamstring injury ended his season early in May. Marca’s front page reads: “Varane says no to Mou.

Mino Raiola has said there is no deal done regarding Paul Pogba and his move to Man United. L’Equipe’s story on Wednesday night said Man United and Juventus had agreed a deal which would see Pogba move to Old Trafford in a world record transfer.

Jose Mourinho insists he is considering various other midfield options aside from Pogba in this transfer window. In his first press conference as Man United manager, Mourinho stated he would bring in four ‘fundamental’ signings, of which three have already joined in the form of Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. While the fourth is almost certainly set to be Pogba, Mourinho stated earlier he has considered a number of alternative midfield options.

Man United manager Mourinho has explained why he didn’t include Ibrahimovic in his 25-man pre-season tour squad. The 53-year-old insisted that Ibrahimovic, who signed for the club earlier this month, would be better suited to a specific training programme, tailored specifically for the Swede.
