Jose Mourinho refused to sign a Chelsea shirt whilst interacting with Chinese supporters ahead of Manchester United’s game with Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai.
The 53-year-old was dismissed by Chelsea last December, just seven months after guiding the West London side to Premier League glory.
Now at the helm of Man United, Mourinho has worked quickly and efficiently this summer, capturing Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in an attempt to assert himself on the Premier League once again.
Signing an array of United shirts and posing for pictures with fans, Mourinho was presented with a Chelsea shirt that he duly ignored, giving a wry smile as he turned away.
Mourinho’s outright rejection to engage with his former club in any way is indicative of his current mindset. The Portuguese is religiously devoted to his post as United manager – a job he favoured over returning to Chelsea in 2013.
Now he has his dream job, that serial winning mentality and us-against-the-world attitude is clearly present, to the extent that he won’t even lay his hands on a Chelsea shirt – something United fans can certainly identify with.
