Zlatan Ibrahimovic has taken to Instagram to reveal his decision on becoming Manchester United’s new No.9.

The Swedish striker has taken the shirt number off Anthony Martial, who will now be moving to No.11.

He has worn the No.10 at Paris Saint-Germain, but has worn No.9 for the majority of his career at Barcelona, Juventus and Ajax.

Ibrahimovic posted an image of No.9 on Instagram, writing: ‘I chose the number 9.’

United’s new signings Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, have taken No 3 and No 22 respectively, while many believe the No.6 shirt has been kept free for Pogba, who wore the same number in his early days at Juventus.

Ibrahimovic will now be set to follow in the footsteps at several big names at the club including Sir Bobby Charlton, Brian McClair, Andy Cole and Dimitar Berbatov.

United fans will have to wait to see him in action, as Mourinho has awarded him with an extended break after his participation with Sweden at Euro 2016 in France.
