Pep Guardiola insists Manchester United will be a very strong team under Jose Mourinho this season.
The Portuguese boss was appointed as manager last month and has already completed deals for Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
His Man United side saw out a comfortable 2-0 win against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium, but suffered a 4-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Friday and will be looking to finish their time in Shanghai on a high as they meet Man City on Monday evening.
Speaking about Man United, Guardiola believes they’ll be stronger than they were in previous years.
“I saw United’s game against Dortmund and that’s all – it’s too early to know how they will be,” he said.
“I’m pretty sure they will be stronger than in previous years. Of course with this manager and with the good players they already had and I’m sure they will buy new players. They will be a strong team.”
Both managers won’t be focusing on the results during the pre-season, but will be looking to get their players settled after playing together.
However, fans will be looking forward to the fixture and will want to keep bragging rights until both sides meet again at the Manchester Derby in the Premier League on September 10.
Mourinho has been trying out plenty of new tactics as he gets to know his new players and will undoubtedly be looking forward to putting all his hard work into action when his side meet Bournemouth for their first game of the Premier League.
