Former Manchester United defender Denis Irwin has hailed the “three great signings” made by Jose Mourinho this summer.
The 53-year-old has acquired the services of Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, and is still looking to bring in more reinforcements.
Irwin was quick to laud Ibrahimovic, labelling him as “one of the best strikers in the world,” whilst predicting Mkhitaryan to adapt quickly to life in the Premier League.

Mourinho’s quick and ruthless dealings in the transfer market have been hugely admirable. In the space of a few weeks, Mourinho addressed three fundamental issues that hampered United last season – a lack of muscle in defence, creativity and a consistent output of goals – with some shrewd signings.
Unfortunately, United fans are yet to see Ibrahimovic grace the pitch in a red shirt. On the other hand, Mkhitaryan and Bailly, who both featured in pre-season matches with Wigan Athletic and Borussia Dortmund, have already made a positive impression on supporters.
Despite struggling on the wing against Dortmund, Mkhitaryan’s sheer quality and panache on the ball has shone through, whilst Bailly has hit the ground running with two stellar, no-nonsense displays at centre back, serving as an ideal alternative to the unreliable Phil Jones.
