Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed Gonzalo Higuain will be moving to the Serie A champions and remained coy over Paul Pogba’s future.
The Argentinian striker has joined Juventus for a staggering €94m to become one of the most expensive players of all time and Manchester United fans are hoping to hear an update over Pogba’s protracted move back to Old Trafford.
Speaking outside the Serie A offices after handing in Higuain’s contract, Marotta told reporters they’ll have to wait and see what happens.
“We have deposited Gonzalo Higuain’s contract,” Marotta said.
“We have done everything.
“Pogba to Manchester United? We will see when everything is over. Right now we are still in the same situation.”
It’s been a slow and painful few weeks for Man United fans with Pogba as the news has been drip-fed to us with plenty of twists and turns on the way. However, the news that Higuain has completed his move to Juventus could be the turning point.
If Juventus had been dragging their heels in order for Higuain to be over the line before Pogba joined United, then there’ll be no reason for it go on any longer. Of course, if it is purely Mino Raiola’s fee which is holding up his move then we might be no closer as Marotta indicates.
We all just want this to be over and done with but the complicated deal has proved to be one of the worst transfer sagas we’ve been a part of. Hopefully, as the news settles on Higuain’s big move to Juventus then we’ll finally be given the news we’ve wanted and Pogba’s transfer to United will be made official.
