Jose Mourinho orders players in for training session after flying back from China

Jose Mourinho called his players in for a training session on Tuesday morning, straight after they returned from Beijing.

The Manchester United squad, flying home a day earlier than planned after their match against Manchester City was cancelled, touched down in England at 5am following an 11-hour overnight journey.

Mourinho had his 25-man squad out on the training pitch at Carrington by 6:30am for a two hour training session.

According to the Daily Mail, this impromptu training session was called due to the 53-year-old’s dissatisfaction with the amount of fitness work done by his side in the past 72 hours.

The thought of doing a two hour training session at 6:30am is a truly grim prospect. For the Man United squad, after 11 hours on a plane, it would have been difficult, even for the most athletic and energetic of players.

However, it does offer United fans a glimpse of Mourinho’s attitude towards success. The 53-year-old has always placed emphasis on the importance of a well integrated group with a clear collective understanding, and such unity requires plenty of hard work on the training field. Make no mistake, Mourinho will push his squad to physical extremes, and the end product will be something to admire.
