Marcus Rashford learning every day from Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Marcus Rashford has praised the immediate influence Zlatan Ibrahimovic has had on his Manchester United team-mates and says he is learning every day from one of the best strikers in the game.

With 12 titles in the last 13 years, Ibrahimovic is a decorated and serial winner – the sort of character which Man United’s dressing room has lacked since the departures of Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Ryan Giggs and Patrice Evra. Now he’s come in, it’s clear having that sort of character around is going to make a big difference.

Speaking about Zlatan, Rashford highlighted that Ibrahimovic is helping him improve as a player both on and off the pitch.

He said: “We can definitely all learn from him while he is here, so we all need to take that chance,” Rashford said. “It’s a massive help to be with him every day and it’s great to see what he is like on and off the pitch. There is a lot to learn from him and hopefully I can bring some of his game into mine.”

When further questioned about the general feeing at United right now, Rashford added: “It’s really important to get that first win together as a group, it’s great for us in the build-up to the season. The manager wasn’t concerned [with United being 2-1 down at half-time] and just told us to push and close the space, something we did really well in the second half.

“There’s a lot of optimism, as that is only our second pre-season game as a full squad – it was the first game for some players,” he added. “It is very exciting for both fans and players.”

What a perfect player Zlatan is for Rashford to learn from. Like Eric Cantona when he arrived, he’ll be taken under the wing of Ibrahimovic and helped as much as possible; that combination of world class, established players with exciting youngsters is deadly and drove some of our greatest successes under Sir Alex Ferguson.

There aren’t many more exciting players to watch than Rashford and in his first game back in pre-season he picked up where left off last year by getting us all to the edge of our seats watching him play. The future is bright for Marcus at United and under the guidance of Mourinho and Ibrahimovic, he’s got the perfect platform to shine.
