From Spain: Paul Pogba to complete Manchester United move today

by Sam Peoples

Sorry if you are getting sick of Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United but until the official announcement is made, the press are continuing to take us through the mill.

The latest comes from Spanish newspaper AS who have gone out on a limb to say Pogba to Man United will be completed on Wednesday 3 August, or today.

They report Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola will be at Old Trafford to sign a five-year contract and suggest his holidays have officially ended. Happy days, right? Well, this isn’t the first time a date and time has been given to us – Gianluca di Marzio reported last week that the deal would be finalised within 48 hours and La Stampa’s Massimiliano Nerozzi also said last week that it would be completed on Friday. Now, they may have been referring to the deal itself being finalised rather than it being completed but it hasn’t made it any easier for United fans to follow.

Could it be announced today? We absolutely hope so but there’s a couple of things to consider. Firstly, Pogba is in New York and would have to fly to Manchester to get it done. Secondly, and more importantly, it’s Wayne Rooney‘s testimonial and I’d be genuinely surprised if we overshadowed that occasion with Pogba’s announcement.

Still, we’re simply reporting the news and what the press are saying. Hopefully we’re proved wrong.
