Andrea Pirlo: Paul Pogba wants to be the best in the world at Manchester United

Former Juventus and Italy midfielder Andrea Pirlo has hailed new signing Paul Pogba stating the Frenchman is determined to be the best in the world at Manchester United.

Pirlo starred in Juventus’ midfield alongside the Frenchman for three years, winning three league titles in the process.

It was announced early on Tuesday evening that Pogba had officially completed his world record £89m move to Man United.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the Italian was full of praise for the most expensive footballer of all time.

“Sometimes with natural ability, some players think that is enough, but that’s not the case with him,” he said.

“You are getting a player with a great attitude. He wants to be the best in the world, he wants to learn off the coaches and the senior players. He is hungry to be the best.”

“A lot of people have a lot to say about what the fee could be and if he’s worth it. But when you pay a big fee you just have to ask one question – can this player play a big part in us winning trophies?

“If he can do that then it will always be worth it for the buying club. We know Pogba can do this and we know he can do it for a lot of years to come.”

Pogba is the type of player who hasn’t heard of limits. At Juventus he developed an amazingly idiosyncratic game – one that blends speed, strength and technical ability into one mesmerising style. Most midfielders only have one of the aforementioned attributes. Pogba has all three.

No wonder, then, that Pogba wants to dominate world football. And who says he can’t? At 23, he is already a global superstar with a complete midfield skill set, and will only improve in the coming years.
