Paul Pogba: I want to kill it and win titles at Manchester United

Paul Pogba has expressed his enthusiasm at rejoining Manchester United, outlining his desire to “kill it” at Old Trafford.

The midfielder returns to Old Trafford after four years with Juventus for a world record sum of £89m, signing a five year deal with the club that sold him in 2012 for just £800,000.

News of Pogba’s arrival has consumed the footballing world, with United fans and players alike rejoicing at the prospect of seeing the 23-year-old in a red shirt next season.

Speaking to MUTV upon his arrival, Pogba sent out a bold statement of intent to supporters, vowing to conquer all whilst at Old Trafford.

“The thing with me is I only think about the pitch,” he said.

I want to do great, I want to be one of the best, I want to win titles, I want to achieve things and that’s all, that’s why I came here, just to do this, to become one of the best and to win titles because I know this club has to win titles.

“This club is created to win titles, to win things, to win big things. I just focus on this and that’s it. I’m just ready to go and work on that and just kill it.”

In just four years, Pogba has gone from ostracised youngster to global superstar. He savours the spotlight in similar fashion to the likes of David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo, who thrived when scrutinised by international audiences. And as the most expensive footballer of all time, no player will be under greater scrutiny than Pogba next season. Every mistake and every slight movement will be judged. He’ll need to deliver immediately and emphatically under Jose Mourinho.

To live under such pressure seems unbearable. But as he reclines in his chair and speaks to MUTV, you see a man who demands that level of scrutiny, who wants the headlines, and, most notably, wants to be the best.
