Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan has hailed new manager Jose Mourinho insisting the 53-year-old is the perfect fit for the club.
Mourinho has made a positive start to his time at Man United: he has landed his four main transfer targets, renewed the contracts of several key players, and prevailed over last season’s champions Leicester City to claim the Community Shield.
After breaking the bank to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford, the Special One’s stock is at an all time high with United fans.
The Uruguayan claimed Mourinho is the ideal manager for United, tipping them as candidates for the title.
“Manchester United needed a coach with the influence that Mourinho has,” he said.
“It’s not easy to train a club like Manchester United, the club needs someone with a lot of influence in the dressing room and on the bench, it is not easy to play against him – has a great personality and the players know that it is a winning coach.
“Last season, things were different, has almost the same team, but a different coach, are no doubt now candidates for the title.”
Forget the illustrious signings he’s made, the rich blend of experience and youth at his disposal, his astonishing track record. The best thing about Mourinho’s presence at United is his ethos. His unadulterated obsession with victory, with battering the opponent into submission.
There is no talk about ‘transition’ or a ‘process’ with the 53-year-old. Complimented by some immense figures in the dressing room, Mourinho is after immediate success at Old Trafford.
