Manchester United players have expressed their excitement after Paul Pogba’s move to Old Trafford from Juventus was announced in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The Frenchman left Man United in 2012 after a disagreement with Sir Alex Ferguson and went on to encounter non-stop success with Juventus, winning four league titles in as many years.

It was thought by many that Pogba would never return to Old Trafford after leaving in gloomy circumstances, but Jose Mourinho has broken the world transfer record in order to bring the midfielder back home, shelling out £89m.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Marcus Rashford, Morgan Schneiderlin and Jesse Lingard all welcomed the newest addition to Mourinho’s squad via social media.

It is no secret that, despite the unsavoury end to his time at United, Pogba kept in contact with various players such as Adnan Januzaj and Jesse Lingard. The club clearly holds a special place in his heart, and his homecoming feels almost providential. The outward excitement from not just fans but players alike demonstrates the sheer enormity of this deal.

Never before has a new signing evinced such an emphatic global response. As the new season dawns across Europe, the main talking point in all corners of the football world is Pogba and United. As they say: hated, adored, but never ignored.
