Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has labelled Jose Mourinho’s decision to demote Bastian Schweinsteiger to the reserves as hard to understand. The 32-year-old came to Old Trafford last summer and was largely inhibited by a persistent string of injuries, restricting the German to just 18 Premier League appearances in his first season. Schweinsteiger has been ostracised from the first-team ever since Mourinho arrived at the club and is likely to leave after the 53-year-old made it clear the German was not part of his plans for this season.

Former Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo has recalled the way his teammates laughed at Manchester United’s decision to sell Paul Pogba to the Turin side. Pogba left Old Trafford in 2012 after a schism with Sir Alex Ferguson, gravely upsetting Man United fans who had tipped the youngster to become a regular in the coming years. The Frenchman, after four years with the Old Lady, returned to Manchester last week, signing for a world record £89m on a five year deal.

New Inter Milan boss Frank de Boer confessed his admiration for Daley Blind but insists that the defender is happy at Man United United. Blind was linked with a move away from Old Trafford upon Jose Mourinho’s arrival as manager, with the Portuguese reportedly unconvinced by the Dutchman’s defensive style.

Former Liverpool midfielder and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp noted that Marcus Rashford‘s presence will help bring the best out of new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede, fresh from his winning goal against Leicester in the Community Shield, made an instant impact on his Premier League debut, thundering home Man United’s third against AFC Bournemouth from 25 yards.
