Paul Scholes: Paul Pogba reminds me of Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United

Paul Scholes insists Paul Pogba can reach the level Cristiano Ronaldo was able to achieve at Manchester United.

The Frenchman finalised his world record £89 million deal earlier this month after spending four years at Juventus.

He made his long-awaited debut against Southampton in the Premier League and put in a dominating showing from midfield.

Speaking about his talent, Scholes admits he is reminded of Ronaldo when he watches Pogba in action.

“There are real similarities between him and Ronaldo,” he said.

“They’re very different people and players, but they both have the same confidence and arrogance on the pitch.

“They both train incredibly hard. Pogba and Ronaldo are great athletes – they’re both great in the gym – and they train for as long as they can on the training field.

“Hopefully Pogba will reach the level Ronaldo has done.”

He left as a talented youngster, but has returned to Man United as one of the best midfielders in the world after four exceptional years of development.

His time at Juventus has seriously helped him as a player, but at 23 there is still plenty of time for him to pick up more experience and improve his game.

Pogba will play a vital role for Jose Mourinho’s side this season and I can’t wait to see him in action again versus Hull City next weekend.
