Jamie Redknapp believes Paul Pogba has gotten his Manchester United career off to brilliant start with a dominating performance against Southampton.
The Frenchman made his second debut on Friday night after finalising his world-record £89 million move from Juventus earlier in the month.
He had a spectacular showing and has finally provided the quality Man United have missed in midfield in recent years.
Speaking about his performance, Redknapp claims Pogba will separate the boys from the men.
“Pogba showed he’s the real deal,” he said.
“His overall performance – after a week’s training – was incredible. I was so impressed with his all-round game.
“Jose Mourinho mentioned how much of the ball he touched and his influence. He covered every blade of grass.
“Certainly on the left hand side, that’s an area he liked to play. It was like men against boys in that midfield. When he gets fit and gets to that next level you can see goals, assists, and him dominating games.”
While Pogba’s debut was impressive, it’s still only the start of his career at Man United and at 23, there is plenty of time left for him to only get better and better.
He will linkup well with Mourinho’s new signings and once he finally settles into life in Manchester he will help take the club to the next level as Redknapp suggests.
