Juan Mata insists Manchester United are laying the foundations of the team this season.
New manager Jose Mourinho was appointed as Louis van Gaal‘s sucessor in May and has already signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba this summer.
He has also let some players know they won’t play a role in his plans this season while providing his complete backing to players like Marouane Fellaini, who has taken a massive turn in his career with two spectacular showings to kick off the new campaign.
Speaking about the new season, the Spaniard claims the wins help build an optimistic atmosphere at the club.
“We know there’s still room for improvement,” he said.
“We are laying the foundations of the team for this season and, you know, those wins help us to create an optimistic atmosphere and make things go well. Last Friday we deserved the three points.
“We have a tough game ahead on Saturday at Hull City. It’s never easy and they are one of the four teams that have won the first two games this season. They are back in the Premier League this year and are having a surprising start. We will try to win and keep our good streak.”
Mourinho has previously revealed he is trying to take players away from the mind frame Louis van Gaal installed at the club and set new foundations for his side.
Man United have been a mid-table team for the last few years since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, but Mourinho has come to the club and turned us into favourites to win the Premier League this year.
He has been vocal of his intent to forget the last few years at Man United and hopes are he’s able to leave his own successful mark on the club.
