Marcos Rojo‘s agent, Carlos Gonçalves, has revealed Manchester United have rejected several offers for the 26-year-old over the summer.
It was reported that Jose Mourinho was keen on completing a swap deal that saw Rojo move to Southampton, with Jose Fonte coming the other way.
However, it has recently come to light that Rojo was unaware of any potential swap deal, and is instead focused on making an impact on Mourinho’s starting XI this season.
Gonçalves confirmed to Sport Witness that Man United are not prepared to let the Argentinian leave this summer, rejecting bids from various clubs.
He said: “Manchester United rejected several offers from England and from abroad to sell the player. Manchester United want him to stay.”
He is, on his day, a powerful, assured force at the back, capable of dominating strikers and playing out from the back. As a squad player, the Argentinian could be a useful asset for Mourinho, who clearly admires Rojo’s immense stature and brutish style.
However, try as he might, Rojo is unlikely to break up the ever-blossoming partnership of Blind and Bailly, which was once again formidable against Hull City on Saturday.
