Manchester United reject Inter Milan approach for Matteo Darmian

Manchester United have rejected an approach from Inter Milan for defender Matteo Darmian, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Inter wanted to take Darmian on loan for the season but Jose Mourinho has decided to keep the Italian defender at Man United despite increased competition for his position from Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Antonio Valencia.

Darmian is yet to start under Mourinho in the Premier League but he started last year brilliantly well only to fall apart after a poor display against Arsenal saw the start of his dip in form which never recovered.

Since then it has been a struggle for Darmian at United but Mourinho rejecting an approach from Inter is a real indicator for Matteo that he values his spot in the squad. It’s going to be tough for him with Valencia playing so well but at some point this season he will get his opportunity and he needs to make sure he takes it.

I think Darmian is the sort of player who could thrive and improve under Mourinho and I’ve got a real hope that he can re-find the form he showed at the start of his debut campaign.
