Mauricio Pochettino was confident of signing the Frenchman after he fell behind Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini in the pecking order in Man United’s midfield.
However, the Portuguese has rejected any offers and told the 26-year-old he will have a role to play at Old Trafford.
Mourinho’s side have to feature in two domestic cups and the Europa League this campaign, he has promised all his players game-time this month.
His reluctancy to let players go is understandable as United head into an action-packed September, but Schneiderlin deserves more than to just be shipped out after one season at the club.
Spurs are likely to make another approach in January if Schneiderlin’s playing time does not increase and I don’t believe he should be sold as he still has much to offer.
He has shown plenty of potential last season and should be given the opportunity to make his mark on Mourinho’s side and cement his place in the first-team.
