The FA have released an update on Luke Shaw after the Manchester United left-back missed training with England on Saturday morning.

He allegedly sat out of the session because Sam Allardyce is looking to manage the workload as Shaw eases back into football.

The 21-year-old is not in the starting XI for England’s World Cup 2018 qualifier with Slovakia on Sunday evening but could make an appearance off the bench.

Speaking about Shaw, the FA have confirmed he is fine and is still continuing his recovery.

“All but one member of Sam Allardyce’s 23-man were involved in the session,” the statement read.

“With Luke Shaw sitting out as England’s medical staff look to manage the workload of a player who missed the majority of last season with a broken leg.”

Shaw’s rest will undoubtedly please Mourinho, who had held discussions with Allardyce over his fitness before the international break.

He should return to Old Trafford with full fitness and will be able to play his important role at left-back in the Manchester Derby on September 10.

Danny Rose is expected to start at left-back tomorrow and and Shaw could help England get their qualifying campaign off to a great start with a victory.
