Ander Herrera: Man United are playing with freedom under Jose Mourinho

Ander Herrera insists his Manchester United team-mates are playing with freedom under Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese boss took over in May and players have been vocal of their appreciation of his tactics and laid-back play-style.

Jesse Lingard has previously stated Mourinho gives players attacking freedom going forward, something fans were hoping for after Louis van Gaal‘s dull reign at Old Trafford.

Speaking about Mourinho, Herrera claims players feel the confidence of their new manager.

“We are enjoying every training session and every player is ready to play,” he said.

“We have a good squad. We are playing with freedom because we feel the confidence of our manager. He believes in this team. We know he trusts all of us, so from Monday we already wanted to play.”

Mourinho was delighted with Herrera’s contribution against Manchester City after he came on at half-time and he may get the chance to feature again on Thursday night.

It’s about time the Spaniard stopped getting overlooked at the club as Mourinho started him in every pre-season game up to the Community Shield and was one of our stand-out performers.

He has fallen behind Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba in the pecking-order, but if Mourinho opts for a 4-3-3 formation, Herrera will undoubtedly have a big role to play.
