Paul Scholes: Paul Pogba has to play in a three-man midfield at Man United

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes insists Jose Mourinho must play Paul Pogba in a three-man midfield to get the best out of him.

The Frenchman re-signed for a world record fee of £89m this summer, but hasn’t lived up to the expectations of fans so far.

He hasn’t managed a single goal or assist during his time at Man United and Scholes claims he has to be in a three-man midfield if Mourinho wants to see the Pogba from Juventus.

“At three years at Juventus he played in a three,” he said.

“He played in a two at France and wasn’t great, he’s played in a two so far this season, he hasn’t been great but he has been the one player who has given everything and wants to give everything.

“We want to see the Juventus Pogba and he played with great experience, to get the best out of him he needs to be playing in a three.”

Scholes has backed Michael Carrick to get the best out of Pogba at Old Trafford, but has also suggested the likes of Modric or Kroos to help him achieve what is needed.

The midfield three of Rooney, Fellaini and Pogba was shocking against Watford, they posed no threat moving forward and were easily ran through too.

Mourinho has some hard decisions to make going forward and he’ll need to make them soon with his side facing Northampton on Wednesday.
