The youngster, following a meteoric rise to stardom in the latter stages of the 2015/16 season, was handed a new contract by Jose Mourinho upon his arrival to the club in June.
Rashford has continued to generate widespread enthusiasm with a cabaret of rip-roaring, fearless performances under Mourinho, personified most memorably in Man United’s 1-0 win over Hull.
And according to ESPN’s Peter O’Rourke, the club is lining up another deal for the talented youngster.
Even amidst the tumult of Sunday’s defeat to Watford, Rashford shone through like a jewell. United may have stagnated going forward, but Rashford, ceaseless in his raw, uncapped aggression and power on the ball, refused to fall into the pot-pourri of mediocrity that continued to surround him.
This is a teenager who doesn’t experience the slightest iota of pressure or fear. Regardless of context, the purpose remains the same – get the ball and run at the opposition with intent. Such an attitude was captured most notably by his goal against Watford: a clear determination to pile forward and grab the opposition by the jugular, focusing purely on the task at hand, ending, of course, in the equaliser.
The goal also revealed an interesting contrast: Rashford concentrated on driving the the ball home, whilst Wayne Rooney appealed for a penalty. One player looked for external help, whilst the other took matters into his own hands.
That attitude, personified by Rashford, is exactly what United fans demand above anything.
