Bastian Schweinsteiger excluded from Man United’s first-team squad photocall

Bastian Schweinsteiger was excluded from Manchester United’s first-team squad photocall at Carrington, according to reports.

Twenty-five Man United players, Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff took their headshots earlier this week.

Third-choice goalkeeper Sam Johnstone was the only member of Mourinho’s 26-man squad that did not feature in the official pictures released.

Johnstone was on the bench for United’s first-team match against Northampton on Wednesday night and did not feature for the U23s on Monday.

On the other hand, it’s gone from bad to worse for Bastian and recent reports suggested he would only be willing to leave the club if he was paid his full wages in advance, equalling a cool £13.8 million.

He was cut from Mourinho’s squad in July and claimed he would not play for another European club during the summer transfer window, where he turned down a move away from Old Trafford.

Bastian only made 13 Premier League starts last season and it doesn’t look like he’ll have the opportunity to fight his way back into the United side even though Mourinho claimed it wouldn’t be impossible.
