Jose Mourinho has confirmed Luke Shaw and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are not injured but aren’t at full match fitness yet.
Both did not feature in Manchester United’s 4-1 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Shaw picked up a slight groin tear following Man United’s loss to Watford and was expected to be sidelined for around two to three weeks, while Mkhitaryan was rushed back into action too early against Manchester City after picking up an injury.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho said he is only willing to use players that are match fit.
“I wouldn’t say injured, injured. Not 100%. When you have to win, I go with players who are 100%,” he said.
Shaw has played a vital role for United this season and hopes are he is able to find his feet as soon as possible so he can slot back into the squad.
Mkhitaryan on the other hand, has only started one game and was hauled off at half-time in the Manchester derby after a disappointing performance.
It was the right decision to leave them both out against Leicester, allowing them to rest and with United’s spectacular 4-1 win over Claudio Ranieri’s side, United look on the way up after losing three consecutive games.
