Adnan Januzaj suffers ankle ligament injury against Crystal Palace

Adnan Januzaj is set to spend six weeks on the sidelines after suffering ankle ligament injury in Sunderland’s 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace.

He underwent a scan on Tuesday which confirmed the ligament damage and he’ll now miss quite a few games for Sunderland. As far as the club are concerned it is certainly terrible news because David Moyes’ side are struggling right now and Januzaj has been one of their better players.

It’s such a shame for Januzaj but I suppose at least it will only be six weeks rather than anything longer because game time is everything for him on this loan spell at Sunderland and he’s become one of their main players.

Lots of Manchester United fans see this season with Sunderland as Januzaj’s last chance to break his way through into Man United’s first-team squad. Were he to have a poor year overall, many fans feel it would the right time for Adnan to move on elsewhere in order to further his career.

As far as I am concerned, I’m such a big fan of Januzaj but I can see the logic in questioning whether he has a future if he can’t succeed at Sunderland. There’s so much competition for places at United and there are only a limited amount of opportunities players are given, although the amount of chances Phil Jones has had will give Januzaj more hope.

It means we won’t see Januzaj back in action until November which means he should be completely back prior to the mad rush of fixtures in December.
