Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba have been called up by France for their upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Manchester United team-mate Morgan Schneiderlin has not been named in Didier Deschamps’ squad which is disappointing but given how competitive their midfield is, it’s not too surprising given that he isn’t playing much under Jose Mourinho.
Here is the full squad announced by Deschamps:
Martial scored in the last international break for France but wasn’t able to convert that into better for Man United, so here’s hoping that won’t be the same this time around. Having missed the last couple of games through injury, the time spent with France might be just what he needs to get back to full fitness.
As for Pogba, he is one of France’s pin-up boys alongside Antoine Griezmann so he’ll take a central role for Deschamps in any games they play and United fans will want him to be just as dominant as he was against Leicester City in our 4-1 win. He’ll be wanting to replicate that form with France.
And finally a note on Schneiderlin – he’s got his work cut out to get in both United’s team and France as well.
