Jose Mourinho insists Juan Mata is in his natural habitat at Manchester United.
With a goal and an assist to his name last Saturday in the 4-1 victory over Leicester City, the Spaniard looked to be in familiar territory once against under Mourinho.
The Portuguese boss opted to play him in the No.10 role and it was refreshing to see him pulling the strings from the centre of the park.
Speaking about Mata, Mourinho claimed he is another player in his project.
“It’s one thing having the players for that and it’s another having players trying to play in a different way. We are trying to play in a different way,” he said.
“He is very adaptive with his qualities. He has found a very good natural habitat with us.
“So Juan at Chelsea in my project was one player, and Juan in my project at Man United is another thing.”
Mata was Chelsea’s Player of the Year for two consecutive years before he was sold to United by Mourinho during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Many believed his future at Old Trafford would come under heavy pressure with Mourinho’s introduction, but the Portuguese boss is convinced Mata feels at home in the current United side.
Fans are hoping to see Mata in the No.10 tole once again after one of our most convincing under the new boss.
