Robbie Savage believes Marouane Fellaini is not a central midfield player at Manchester United.
The Belgian has often been deployed alongside Paul Pogba, who completed his world record transfer fee from Juventus this summer.
He has struggled to make a massive impact on the side, but has shown glimpses of his talent as he settles back in at Old Trafford.
Speaking about Jose Mourinho’s midfield, Savage claims the Portuguese boss has a dilemma to solve.
“I don’t think you can play [Marouane] Fellaini with Pogba at all. Unless it’s the EFL Cup and they’re playing an awful team,” he said.
“I don’t think Fellaini’s a central midfield player at all for this football club.
“We’re talking about Manchester United here. I don’t think for a club of this size, you can play Fellaini with Pogba. Herrera away from home maybe not, so I think the problem is, who’s partnering Pogba?”
Pogba made plenty of chances against Stoke and also had six shots, but the end product wasn’t there and it’s something that needs improving in the coming games.
He hasn’t been able to re-find his form from Juventus and it could be as a result of all the changes in the starting XI with his midfield partners.
Mourinho must address the issue soon as the squad will come up against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City after the international break.
