Didier Deschamps: Paul Pogba needs more time at Manchester United

Didier Deschamps insists Paul Pogba needs more time to adapt after making his £89m world record move to Manchester United this summer.

He’s made a slow start to life back at Old Trafford, but found the back of the net against Leicester last month in one of his best performances since his arrival.

Fans were left frustrated as he hasn’t lived up to expectations and missed some prime opportunities in the home draw with Stoke on Sunday.

Speaking about the Frenchman, Deschamps claims Pogba knows what he wants at Man United.

“He has changed his club team and needs to find his bearing with his new team-mates,” he said.

“With Paul, we always expect more. When he does something neutral, often it is not enough.

“He is someone we expect to make assists in every game – there is an expectation that is too large.

“Paul is okay in his own head. He knows what he wants.”

France prepare for back-to-back World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Holland – and Pogba will undoubtedly have a big role to play as usual.

After the international break Man United will meet the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Pogba will play at the heart of Mourinho’s side and will be relishing the opportunity to hit the ground running and find some form at Old Trafford.
